ASTLEY’s ANNUAL WHERRY, &c.

Given in Honour of HIS MAJESTY’s BIRTH-DAY,

Were rowed for yesterday, by Seven Pair of Oars, amidst an immense concourse of spectators assembled on Westminster-Bridge, on the River, and its opposite Banks, from Vauxhall, Surry, to the Adelphi, in the Strand.

The Candidates, from their having been well selected, afforded infinite sport. The weather too was much in their favour, and, from the regularity with which every thing was conducted, no accident happened.

YOUNG ASTLEY, who took upon himself the management of the whole, prepared also a NEW ENTERTAINMENT for the occasion at the ROYAL SALOON, which, we hear, is to be repeated this evening.

The following Persous [sic] were the Winners of the three Prizes, viz.

William Henderson     Yellow,           The Wherry.

Thomas Barker

Joseph Bishop             Scarlet,            The Two Guineas.

Joseph Holmes

James Howell              Blue,                The One Guinea.

Thomas Cock

The two first belong to Blackfriars and Summers’ Quay.
