ASTLEY’S New Performances—for so pleasing, so novel, so truly interesting, and, above all, so highly honoured as was every Piece brought out at the ROYAL SALOON yesterday evening, has not been witnessed at any place of public amusement for a considerable time. A new Dance, a new Burletta, a new Ridotto, and a Pantomime, possessing excellence beyond description, formed a part of the Entertainments produced last night at this place. That the most universal applause should attend the performance of such pieces, as may, in point of merit, challenge any place to surpass, is not to be wondered at; and we may venture to say, on this occasion, that our wonder will be great indeed if they are not beheld by the Public in general.
The Sadler’s Wells Loyalty, in “George for England,” proved a high treat to the Holiday Folks last night, at the favourite shew shop. The galleries encored and applauded, in a most uproarious style of exultation, and seemed to vie with the stage author in their expressions of loyal satisfaction, especially at the emblematical overthrow of War and Discord, by the Sons of Britannia, and the well timed Finale of King and Constitution.
