The amusements at ASTLEY’s, at no period od time, were ever so well calculated to instruct and entertain as those of the present day; that they are in the hands of the best performers of the town will be acknowledged, when it is considered that the departments of comic and buffoon dancing are consigned to Lasslles and West, and the rest to performers of equal merit, such as Mercerot, L’Aurent (the present Clown in the Pantomime), and Johannot, the lyric hero of the Amphitheatre of Arts. Miss Smith’s Columbine, like the scenery and machinery, is delightful; and we recommend to Astley a continuation of the plan which he has now adopted, the object of which is to furnish the town with the very best performers and performances to be procured.
