Last night, at the dropping of the curtain at ASTLEY’s Theatre, Westminster bridge, Mr. Connell came forward and addressed the audience as follows:
“LADIES and GENTLEMEN,
“On Monday next an entire Change of Performances will take place
“at this Theatre—It has ever been the Manager’s study to procure the
“greatest variety for your Amusement. He begs me to inform you,
“that he has engaged for Six Nights only, Mr. HANDY, the celebrated
“Equestrian, and the whole of his Troop, amounting to 15 Performers,
“and as many Horses, together with Two surprising Ladies, the best
“Horsewomen in the World—The Entertainments of the Night will
“consist of an entire new Dance, a New Musical Piece, an entire New
“Naval Sketch, founded on the late Capture of the French Frigates, with
“various Performances on the Wire, Rope, and the greatest Display of
“Horsemanship ever exhibited; the Whole to conclude with a favourite
“Pantomime.”
