ASTLEY’s AMPHITHEATRE.—Unparalleled Horsemanship.—Last night might, indeed be termed a proud one for this noble Art, at the Amphitheatre, Westminster Bridge.—Handy’s merits as a horseman are not unknown to the Public; but it seemed to be reserved for the indefatigable and spirited Manager of this place to exhibit Mr. Handy and his Company in a blaze of glory before unseen, and, unless it be for the few nights which we learn the troop is engaged by Mr. Astley, we have doubts if any thing of the like nature may ever be witnessed again.
“When Greek meets Greek, then comes the tug of war!”
An adage most eminently exemplified last night, in regard to what may be done by manly activity and that majestic animal, a horse, which drew forth such peals of applause as were scarcely ever heard before; and if ever curiosity was excited on any occasion, it must be on this, which justly commands the attention of every description of character to behold.
