Amphitheatre Riding-House, Westminster-Bridge, October 11, 1780.
PROMPTED by gratitude, it is impossible for Mr. ASTLEY to close the summer season (though for a short vacation) without returning his most heart-felt thanks to a generous Public, for all favours received; and he begs leave to assure them, patronizes as he is, that he will exert every nerve possible, to render future performances, as his Amphitheatre Riding-House, Westminster-Bridge, not only useful, but from their great variety, uncommonly pleasing.
Mr. Astley has for several years past, had it in consideration to open his Riding-House, Westminster-Bridge, a few evenings in each week during the winter season (at present on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and as it is his utmost ambition to deserve well of the Public, he has been at a great expense In collecting such a bill of fare, as he doubts not will, upon sight, give universal satisfaction.
Mr. Astley begs leave further to inform the Public, that as soon as the necessary alterations and accommodations have taken place, notice thereof will be given in all the public prints.
MONDAY, November 6, is the day fixed on for opening, if possible, laving at last six or eight additional performers; among whom, Master ASTLEY will exhibit in such variety and extraordinary feats of Horsemanship, as must astonish the eye of every beholder: his various attitudes, uncommon agility, Vaulting, and Hornpipe Dancing on Horseback (full speed) are among the least of his unparalleled, delighting, and incomparable performances.
A young Lady from Vienna, in High Germany, will also exhibit on different horses. Her excellence as a Horsewoman, in the great variety of performances, would occasion too much prolixity for a public print; Mr. Astley, therefore, trusts the will receive that applause from a discerning Public, her endeavours have been most anxious to attain.
A further account of performances will be published in a few days.
N.B. Those Ladies and Gentlemen, pupils at the Riding-School, will please to take notice, that no more lessons can be given ‘till the 6th of November, owing to the necessary alterations; after which time lessons as usual.
