BOAT RACE.—Yesterday ASTLEY’s annual prize wherry was rowed for by six pair of sculls. The competitors started from Westminster-bridge at the usual time, and the first heat was won by Robert Barrow, of Blackfriars, James Cannon, of Bankside, and Thomas Overton, of Limehouse. At the second heat, which decided the contest, Barrow, who evinced much skill in rowing, took the lead of Cannon, and came in about half a boat’s length before him. He was consequently declared victor, and received his prize at the Amphitheatre, amidst the usual applause. The River was covered with boats burdened with gay spectators, and several aquatic pugilistic encounters took place among the element dashers, many of whom attempted to foul the race.
