Last night the Royal Amphitheatre, Westminster Bridge, closed a successful season, when Mr. Fox, (previous to the termination of the performances) came forward, and took leave in the following words:
“Ladies and Gentlemen—The season having drawn to a conclusion, permit me, in the name of the Managers, to return you their sincere thanks for the kind and liberal patronage you have afforded them, and to assure you, that in the ensuing season no expence [sic] will be spared, either in the stage or equestrian departments, to render the performances worthy the inspection of their generous patrons.—For myself, and the performers in general, permit me to say, your kind support through our professional exertions, is too deeply engraven [sic] on our hearts, to be erased even by the hand of time; it will excite us to become still more deserving of your favours. Impressed with which desire, we humbly take out leaves for the season.”
