ASTLEY’s ROYAL AMPHITEATRE.—
Calamitous Fire.—In consequence of the total destruction of this theatre, with all the properties, scenery, dresses, and effects, upwards of 300 individuals are suddenly and totally deprived of the means of gaining a subsistence, besides having sustained the loss of all their property in the theatre. The assistance of a benevolent public is earnestly and anxiously solicited in behalf of these poor sufferers and their families during their present state of severe distress. A Committee has been formed to secure the judicious distribution of the funds which may be raised. The following bankers have kindly consented to receive subscriptions—Messrs. Coutts and Co., Messrs. Glyn and Co., Messrs. Drummonds, Sir Claude Scott, Bart., and Messrs. Western and Young; and subscriptions will also be most thankfully received by William Withall, Esq. 7, Parliament-street; by Wilkinson and Cobbold, 5, Chancery-lane; and by the Committee, who site daily at the Treasury-office of the late theatre, 18, Stangate-street, Lambeth.
