Among the many illuminations which took place an Saturday, Astley’s Bath on the Thames was the most beautiful, from its situation. A most capital fireworks was played off; most of the devices were quite new: The water-fire balloon gave general satisfaction; first it exhibited a transparent light of many colours; at the conclusion it burst, when a mine of not less than six thousand serpents, stars, &c. sprang in the air, and covered the whole Thames. At this moment was seen an astonishing number of persons from every place adjacent; boats and barges of all descriptions made a fine appearance, and so well was the whole conducted, that not the least accident happened.
