ASTLEY’S.—Last night this Theatre closed for the season, when the following farewell Address was delivered by Mr. GOMERSAL:--
“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN—I am deputed by the Proprietors of this Theatre, to return, in their names, those Thanks which naturally result from a grateful sense of the liberal patronage they have received during a long season of nine and twenty weeks, in which their exertions to please have not only been honoured with the approbation of a generous and discerning Public, but also of the first Personages in this country, Flattering themselves that they have completed they promise made last season of improvement both before and behind the curtain, the Proprietors empower me to say, that during the recess no expense or exertion will be spared to render the ensuing summer season still more deserving of that favour which it will ever be their pride and study to deserve. They, as well as the Performers in general, most respectfully bud you farewell, for the present season.”
