ASTLEY’S AMPHITHEATRE.—The Duke of Wellington visited this Theatre on Monday, to witness the performance of The Battle of Waterloo, with which his Grace seemed to be highly amused. His Grace was surrounded by a number of children, to whom he paid a great deal of attention, and seemed much amused with their observations. Some sailors in the pit, upon recognizing the Duke, got some wine, drank his health, and gave him three cheers, in which they were joined by many in the gallery and pit. Countess Lieven and party were in the adjoining box. A new pantomime followed, called the Seven Champions of Christendom; or, Harlequin and St. George. The piece, we understand, was from the joint pens of Messrs. Amherst and Leclerq. The piece met with general approbation, and went off well. The scenery is most splendid. The house was filled to an overflow.
