A theatrical Gentleman having backed his opinion for fifty guineas that Young Astley (being so accustomed to serious character) could not perform the part of the Clown in a Pantomime: the bett[sic] being accepted, it is to be decided this evening, as Young Astley has undertaken to perform that character in the Pantomime of Harlequin’s Gambols, which begins at half past six o’clock. It is currently reported by the Sock and Buskin, that Young Astley has a thorough knowledge of Pantomime.
