Last night a sudden and rather unexpected treat took place at the Royal Grove. Mr. Astley, sen. who a few days ago returned from Paris, had by the perseverance of a number of workmen who worked night and day, so far succeeded, as to present the public with a Representation of the late Paris business, which took place on the 14th inst. In the Champ de Mars. The scenes displaying the Confederation were well executed, and when the detailed pieces can be replaced, by the Carpenters, something quicker, (which in all probability will be accomplished in a few night’s representation) it will stand a good chance to sufficiently repay all expense. The Astleys have experienced the generosity of the public in rewarding industry and merit, which we conceive will be the case with his new performances, though by the by, the piece does not in the last, give us any idea that the present rage for liberty in France will every arrive to the glorious perfection, as established in England.
