The new Musical Piece, called the WITTY WIFE, performed for the first time last Monday, at ASTLEY’s, was well received, and not undeservingly, as it abounds with a number of ludicrous situations, which keep the audience in continual good humour, and work very forcibly on their comic sensations:--It is but justice to say, that ASTLEY is remarkably successful in the choice of his entertainments; which, with the advantageous situation, and coolness of the Royal Grove, renders it the most eligible place for summer amusements near this metropolis.
