INTELLIGENCE FROM ASTLEY’s.
The boat-race on the Thames yesterday, drew together such crowds at an early hour, that the Royal Saloon overflowed in every part; so eager were the public to gain admittance, that the passages to the pit and gallery were completely blocked up, many could not obtain admission; and several that got in lost some their aprons, shawls, shoes, buckles, &c. Notwithstanding the immense numbers, we do not hear of the least accident. The entertainments were good and gave general satisfaction: no one was admitted inside the Circus, or upon the stage; this kept the spectators in good humour—and we cannot but commend young ASTLEY for his prudence in taking care to amuse the Public without those interruptions occasioned by the admission of persons behind the scenes, and in the ride.
