Astley’s theatre has been more numerously attended this week than last.—Indeed the performances gain much on the town. The pantomimical representation of the Oriental and Royal hostages is one of the most elegant pieces we have seen for some time. All ranks seem eager to take a peep at Tippoo’s two sons; the plot of the Entertainment could not be improved; the songs are excellent, the dresses superb to a degree, the views of the Sultaun’s [sic] Court, Lord Cornwallis’s hill fortification, the capital Seringapatam, and the Military Festival prepared for the Royal Guests, will certainly fill Astley’s Theatre until he sets off for Dublin.
