A correspondent who has been to Astley’s Theatre since the addition of the grand piece of fire-work of the Salamander, pursuing the Diamond, confesses that he was equally pleased and astonished at this brilliant and magnificent exhibition, He conceives that the circumference of this beautiful scene of the active powers of this awful element cannot be less than eight feet. The variety of the colours which fill this extent of splendid imagery produces the most delightful effect that can possibly be imagined. The seeming instantaneous production of the Salamander from the ardent powers of the fiery particles afford a most lively and picturesque idea of positive creation. The animated revolutions of the creature in its orbit pursuing its illusive prey engaged the reflection, from their being so naturally represented, while they entertain the enraptured fancy from the splendor of this beautiful spectacle.
