ASTLEY’s, WESTMINSTER-BRIDGE.

THIS Evening, Monday, January 21st, an extraordinary display of manly activities; also a variety of entertainments never exhibited at this place, an which cannot fail giving the greatest satisfaction.  

Part I.—HORSEMANSHIP,

By the most capital Performers in Europe, likewise surprising agility on Horseback; in short, the common saddle is converted into a theatrical stage, on which, notwithstanding the horse being on a good gallop, is exhibited Comic and Serious Dancing in the highest perfection.

Part II.—TUMBLING.

By several capital Performers, particularly a variety of Lofty Vaulting over mens [sic] heads, tables, chairs, horses, hoops, &c. together with feats of strength, &c. the little family of performers will go through their different exercises of posturing the grand Turbillion Magical Columns, &c.

Part III.

Woman in miniature, 24 years of age, 31 inches high, and only 18 pounds weight; the beautiful Zebra, the little Conjuring Horse, and Sign or Tabaseo’s Exhibition of Bells.

Part IV.

Equilibriums on the moving ladder; Polanders performances; also Whistling the Notes, or imitating various Birds, Rope Vaulting, &c.

The Performers in the above Exhibition are Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Recher, Mr. Nevill, Mr. Baptist, Mr. Adams, Mr. Astley, and the Celebrated

MASTER ASTLEY,

To conclude with the much admired Comic amusement in the Ombre Chinoise, or Liliputian [sic] World. With various alterations and additions, particularly a curious representation of the Moon’s setting and Sun rising at Gibraltar. Part of the Garrison under the command of General George Augustus Elliot, of well known bravery, are seen returning in one solid column from demolishing the Spanish Gun and Mortar Batteries. Aurora is proclaimed by the drums beating the Scotch travely, the Troops marching into Garrison the Grenadiers March; likewise a singular representation of

MOUNT VESUVIUS.

The Vulcano, commonly called the Bursting of the Mountain, is represented, discharging Torrents of Flame and Sulphur, with Clouds of Smoke and Liquid Fire, in a most surprising manner; the whole scene is contracted by moon light, displaying a view of the country round the mountain; beautiful beyond description.

The Doors to be opened at half past five, and to begin at half past six o’clock.
