Master INGLE’s First appearance; the Eighth Night of KOTZEBUE’s VIRGIN OF THE SUN; the Sixty-first Night of the BLACK CASTLE; and the Thirteenth Time of the VENTRILOQUIST.
Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of WALES and Duke of YORK’s Servants,
AT the Royal Amphitheatre, ASTLEY’s, Westminster Bridge, THIS EVENING, will be presented an entire new Operatic Ballet of Action, interspersed with Song, Recital, Dance, and Chorus, (composed, written, and arranged by Mr. ASTLEY, Jun.) called ROLLA and CORA, or the VIRGIN OF THE SUN from the German of Kotzebue, and the literal translation of Miss Phunptre; with most superb Scenery, Machinery, Dresses, Decorations, Trophies, &c. In the course of the Piece will be pourtrayed [sic] the exact Procession which preceded Ataliba, Inca of Quito, when, in full Assembly, Rolla was declared his Heir. Also the Solemn Procession of Priests and Priestesses, &c. from the House of Stars to the Temple of the Sun, from whence Pizarro collected his riches; with the Destruction of that Idolatrous Temple, and the total Abolition of Peruvian Superstition. After which, Master Ingle, that surprising young Prodigy, will sing in a manner that will greatly astonish the Spectators.
Mr. ATKENS, the VENTRILOQUIST, will go through his Wonderful Performances.—The grand TROOP of JUMPERS will fly over Five Horses and Riders, a loose Pole, twelve feet high, peculiar to themselves.—The TROOP of HORSEMEN will exert themselves in various surprizing Feats of Horsemanship; and the curious little Horse will perform in the intervals.—By way of Prelude, a Comic Pantomime, called HARLEQUIN IN HIS ELEMENT; interspersed with a most splendid Variety of Scenery, Machinery, Transformations, &c. &c.—An entirely New, Magnificent, and truly Grand Spectacle Romance (in two parts), called the BLACK CASTLE, or The SPIRIT OF RAVIA (being the 61st time).—Mr. Astley, jun. and Miss Smith will perform principal Characters in the above piece.
Doors to be opened at Half past Five, and to begin at Half past Six o’clock.—Box 4s. Second Price 2s. Pit 2s. Second Price 1s. Gall. 1s. Second Price 6d.—Second Price to commence at Half past Eight o’clock precisely.—Places to be taken at the Box Office, Westminster-bridge, from ten till three o’clock.
The Nobility, Gentry, and others, are most respectfully informed, that the popular Piece, called the Black Castle, most assuredly can only be given a few evenings longer, on account of an entire new and costly Comic Pantomime, thoroughly original in plot, new invented and superb Scenery, &c. being completely ready for representation.
