The Eighth Night of the entirely new Mechanical COMIC PANTOMIME.

ROYAL AMPHITHEATRE, ASTLEY’s, Westminster Bridge.

THIS EVENING, by way of Prelude, and by particular Desire of several Persons of Distinction, will be presented (32d time), a new Nautical Divertisement, called THE HEROES OF THE SEA; or, The Four Engagements. Immediately after which, the surprising Performances of Mr. ATKINS, the VENTRILOQUIST. 8th time, an entirely new Song (written by Mr. Upton) in Character, by Master Ingle, called The Soldier’s Home. 45th time, a new Operatic Ballet of Action, interspersed with Song, Recitative, Dance, and Chorus, (composed, written, and arranged by Mr. Astley, jun.) called ROLLA and CORA; or, The Virgin of the Sun. From the German of Kotzebue, and the literal Translation of Miss Plumptre; with most superb Scenery, Machinery, Dresses, Decorations, Trophies, &c. In the course of the Piece will be pourtrayed [sic] the Procession of Priests and Priestesses, &c. from the Chamber of the Stars to the Temple of the Sun, from whence PIZARD collected his Riches. Rolla, M. Mercerot; and Cora, Miss Smith.—In the course of the Evening, various new EQUESTRIAN EXERCISES, and the Learned PONEY. The Grand Troop of Trampoline Performers will fly over 20 Grenadiers, Five Horses and Riders; a loose Pole, Twelve Feet high; also a Windmill going round.—The Evening’s Amusements to conclude with (8th time) an entirely new Serio-Comic Pantomime, interspersed with the greatest Variety of Novel Metamorphoses, Scenic Transformations, Mechanical Tricks, Deceptions, &c. ever produced on any Stage in a familiar production, called THE DEMON’s TRIBUNAL; or, Harlequin’s Enterprises. The Songs, Duets, Recitative, Trios, and Chorussess [sic], written by Mr. Upton; and the whole of the Pantomime invented, arranged, got up, and adapted for representation, under the immediate direction of Mr. ASTLEY, jun. In the course of the Pantomime the following striking entire new Scenery intervening, with many others, will be displayed, viz. The Condemned Cell—A Transparent View of the Friendly Genii’s Temple—A Modern Wig Shop—A Fanciful and Picturesque View of the Gothic Temple and Walk at Vauxhall, exhibiting the Gardens brilliantly illuminated on the Night of a Masquerade and Gala—A Foreign Harbour, with the Destruction of a Ship by Fire-light—An interesting Landscape—An accurate and lively View of Billingsgate and London Bridge, exhibiting the Pool, Ships, &c. &c.—Tillbury Fort and Gravesend, with a View of the new projected Tunnel; representing various descriptions of Vessels, Boats, &c. on the River, and the Subteraneous Passage under the Thames—The Demon’s Tribunal—and particularly a grand, animated, and faithful Representation of a Bacchanalian Temple, dedicated to Bacchus, by the Greeks and Romans, at Samos, and introducing an insight of the Rites, Attributes, and Devotions paid to Bacchus, with appropriate Cats, drawn by Lions, Tigers, &c.—The numerous persons which fill the various Characters in the Pantomime renders them impossible to be enumerated.—The Scenery painted by Mssrs. Grieves, Spitzer, Timmius, Traynor, and Matthews. The Properties by Mess. Bradwell, Rombaldi, and Matthews. The Dresses by Messrs. Gotleb, Clary, Foster, &c.—and the Music adapted, and composed by Mess. Broad and Lawerence, Jun.
