Mrs. Astley, as the representative of the beautiful but unfortunate Rosamond, was again honoured, last night, with the most general bursts of applause ever bestowed on the most favourite actress on the boards of any stage. The production itself is, indeed, a paragon of scenic excellence, every scene teeming with incidents of the most pathetic and interesting nature; while such is the exquisite pathos thrown into the character of the dying beauty, in the last scene, that every eye of a crowded audience was, last night, glistening with the tears of feeling on the occasion.

Superiority of entertainments, in a city renowned for taste like this, certainly gives every Theatre a pre-eminence over its contemporaries; and this is accounted for the uncommon preference given to Sadler’s wells, by every class of people, from peasant to the peer.
