ASTLEY’S AMPHITHEATRE. Last night the Little Monkey, called General Jackoo, from the fair of St. Germaine at Paris, made its first appearance, and performed in a style, entirely original and astonishing. He first appeared in regimentals as a Prussian Hussar; being asked where he is going, he pulls a letter from his pocket, which he opens, and presents the inquisitor; this paper being read, appears to be a furlough, and raises consequently much laughter. It concludes observing, that the bearer, General Jackoo, has leave of absence from his being remarkable expert in his exercise; he is then asked to perform it, he accordingly draws his sword, which he flourishes, and returns in the scabbard, in a manner that diverts, as much as it surprizes the company: He is then dressed as a rope-dancer, and performs on the tight-rope, dancing quite erect with a balance pole, as other rope tumblers and dancers, in a style of dexterity that surpasses the conception of all that have never seen him; for no person could suppose this part of the exhibition possible, unless l e were a witness of its performance. This little animal has been the admiration we hear of all Paris these two years past.
