Since Mr. Astley has caused the rope to be fixed in the side, for the performance of General Jackoo, his feats are rendered much more conspicuous to the audience; but we still think that when he is upon the table, there wants more light before him, in order to shew his actions to the advantage their excellence deserve; for by the position of the lights on each side and behind him, his front is rather cast in a shade, which prevents his pulling from his pocket his furlough and unfolding, with his drawing, brandishing, and sheathing his sword, from being sufficiently seen by great part of the audience. We would, therefore, just hint to Mr. Astley, whether this defect would not be remedied by placing the table not so forward, so that the general light of the chandelier might fall upon the table where the monkey is placed; and if the chandelier was, at this time, lowered as much as possible, we think it would be sufficient to display the performance of this extraordinary animal without those side lights, which obstruct the sight of many of the audience.
