Last night, which was the second of the representation of the Royal Fugitives, a Pantomimical Display at ASTLEY’s, we could observe a greater sympathy, if possible, in the spectators, than on the first night; numbers in the Pit, Box, and Gallery, seemed much moved at the affecting situation of the Royal Fugitives; JOHANNOT’s song in the character of an English Dancing Master, came very seasonably to raise the spirits of the audience. The Picture of stopping the French King, was judiciously and theatrically arranged, so as to produce a very striking scene where the Hussars make the attempt to rescue him from the National Guards. The house was remarkably crouded, which is no wonder, as the subject was so popular and interesting.
