The Second Henry’s Reign, though so far back as the eleventh century, afforded the Manager of the Royal Amphitheatre, Westminster Bridge, one of the finest subjects for Serious Pantomime, produced last night under the title of Fair Rosamond, or Woodstock Bower, that has been witnessed for a series of years. The Spectacle in question is written by Mr. Upton, and produced under the direction of Mr. Astley, jun. The grand outline of this piece is so fully known to our readers, that but a few remarks on that head will be necessary in this place; let it suffice, therefore, to say, that the Author has not only preserved all that is recorded and interesting in itself, but has here and there enriched it with the most tender and exquisite incidents, while such is the splendour and variety of the scenery, the costume and grandeur of the dresses, particularly evinced in the Army of Warriors on real horses, clad in mail, as to render it in every way one of the most beautiful Spectacles ever witnessed.
